Hands-on Workshop – Professional Repointing Techniques

Attendees will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty and help to restore the brick and stone walls at the North Perth Town Hall. Under the guidance of our professional trainers, you’ll learn a variety of techniques to bring back the glory of this treasured heritage building.

When: Saturday 25 March, 7.30am-3.30pm

Where: 22 View Street, North Perth – North Perth Town Hall

What will happen on the day:

•Introduction and discussions on heritage conservation in traditional lime mortars/repointing techniques and salt damp issues

•Practical sessions – mixing, gauging and application of lime mortars, various repointing techniques to brick and stone, preparation and curing of traditional lime mortars and using correct tools of the trade

•Case Studies – identifying good and bad conservation practice

•Morning tea and lunch provided

•Participants must wear closed toe shoes and sensible clothing

•Personal protection, course notes and tools will be provided.

* Applied Building Conservation Training (ABCT) will present the workshop. This training organisation provides heritage conservation courses for owners of heritage homes, builders and architects.

City of Vincent Heritage Tradesmen Directory Registration – Expressions of Interest

The City is compiling a list of tradesmen who have experience working on heritage conservation and restoration projects.

The Directory aims to assist property owners in locating local experienced tradesmen for heritage conservation works. The Directory will be published on the City’s website, heritage website and sent to the owners of the heritage-listed property.
